After you read the info below, feel free to post or message me here or on ASN to get involved. I'll be updating often on each site.

Some of you may be too young to remember, but when Titanic came out, the news covered it so much that everyone assumed you just "had" to see the movie, because "everyone else" was seeing it. Let's get this attention for our most beloved series. What I've concocted is a campaign to get the premiere covered on your local news. If enough people get on local news, the national shows may pick it up (showbiz tonight covers things like this in particular.) We want everyone to see crowds of people anxious to see The Last Airbender.

Credentials: I have a degree in Public Relations, an I have worked on 3 different campaigns that ended successfully. I do this for fun, because I'm a P.R. geek as well as an Avatar geek.


1st: People within the same area need to converge on one theater. If everyone's split up, we won't have an impressive crowd. I need people to tell me the best theater in their area to meet at (make sure it's convenient to get to and big enough). As people post or message me, I'll keep a running list here of what movie theater to go to on opening night.


New Orleans area: AMC Palace 20 in Elmwood/Harahan
San Fransisco area: Westfield shopping centre
Carrloton (spelling?), TX : Cinemark on Webb Chapel Lane
Phoenix Area: AMC 30 in Deer Valley


2nd: Someone in each area needs to serve as the media contact. This person will be responsible for contacting the local news channels the week of the premiere and let them know what they can expect to see. Closer to the date of the movie release, I will have form letters that y'all can use if you wish. I am asking for the adults to step forward on this first. Later on I will open it up to responsible teens.


New Orleans area: LadyLindz(ASN) / The Moononna (DA)

3rd: Visual effect will win this. We need to be consistent. And we have a YEAR to get this ready, so no excuses! Cosplayers are asked to show up, but everyone not cosplaying is asked to be wearing the following: A t-shirt with your choice of element displayed nice and big on the back of the shirt and on the side of each sleeve (draw the symbol, then the word underneath it).On the front, put "Avatar The Last Airbender" as seen in the title screen of the series, including the asian symbols above it, if you can (but not the Nick logo). Use t-shirt markers, t-shirt paint, or iron-on print-outs, whatever works (even Sharpies if that's all you can get your hands on.) Be careful when making your t-shirts that you put cardboard or something between the front and back of the shirt to keep the ink/paint from bleeding through to the other side.

Air: White t-shirt, black for symbols, words, and Avatar title on front
Water: White t-shirt, standard blue for water symbol and words, black for Avatar title on front
Earth: White T-shirt, standard green for earth symbols and words, black for Avatar title on front
Fire: White t-shirt, standard red for fire symbol and words, black for Avatar title on front

Also, please know that I considered having people show up in a t-shirt the color of their element, but then some colors won't show the writing as much and some "light blue" t-shirts would be different colors.... it would be a mess. The way I have it set up allows for everyone to make some choices, but in a way that looks uniform. Trust me on this, if everyone follows the directions, we will look freakin awesome!

If you're bringing friends or family with you, make t-shirts for them, too!

We'll discuss possible accessories at a later date. We've got a year, people!


***Special note: Please do not show up with anything using the term "Avatard." I realize it's a term we use in the fandom, but families of those who are mentally retarded are sensitive to words stemming from the term "retard", and news editors know it. It may cost us the media coverage we are aiming for.

In Conclusion: for most of you, this only entails that you draw on a t-shirt and show up at the right place. That is such minimal effort for something that will turn out so awesome if you do it, so let's do it!
